Tiny Little Feet || Puckleberry

lonewolf-puck:

It was crazy that he would actually enjoy this, seriously. He honestly thinks that anything would be enjoyable in his eyes as long as it got Rachel to smile like she was right now, like this was the best thing in the entire world and nothing would ruin it. And in a way, those things were true. He sat down in the rocking chair when she got up, but he didn’t let her get too far before his fingers curled around her wrist and pulled her back towards him. He chuckled as she landed in his lap, his arms automatically wrapping around her waist and meeting her lips with a smile. He leaned his chin on the top of her head, sighing contently at everything at this moment. Honestly. It was crazy how happy he is, how happy they are right now, even with everything that’s going on around them. He wouldn’t change it for anything though, because it all includes Rachel, and he would never trade that for anything. He nodded, “We can do that.” He didn’t want her to push herself too hard, she said before that she was tired and wanted a nap. So he was definitely going to limit their time in the baby store once they got there. He grabbed the rocking chair with his free hand, the others wrapped up in Rachel’s, while he walked to the front of the store by the registers. And he was surprised he made it through the entire confrontation with the old lady without laughing or rolling his eyes, even when Rachel asked him to pull out his wallet-sized sonogram photo. He was relieved when she finally stopped talking, giving the old lady a thankful smile before heading out of the store. He secured the rocking chair in the back of his truck before helping Rachel into her seat, closing the door and heading over to his side. And they assumed the same position as before as soon as he was buckled up and pulling out of the parking lot, “After this, we’re going home.”

Rachel watched as Noah loaded the rocking chair into the bed of his truck, smiling all the while. It was finally coming together, their little family. She let him lift her into the truck, instantly moving to the middle seat. “I am okay with that, Noah.” She smiled up at him, covering up a yawn as they drove down the road. It was nice, just driving around like this with him. It allowed them to just spend time alone together without having to say or do much. His very presence always made her feel better. Moving her head off his shoulder, she pulled her hair into a messy ponytail, making a face at the smell. “I ran out of shampoo this morning, so this afternoon’s slushie bomb wasn’t properly washed out of my hair. Every time I smell it, it makes me gag a little. Cherry and green apple are not the best combination.” She looked over at him and kissed his cheek seeing them quickly arriving at the baby store. Right next to it happened to be a fast food place and felt her stomach growl a bit. Of course she was hungry as well. Rolling her eyes a bit at the fact that she was eating for three now, she let Noah help her out of the truck. Taking his hand, they walked into the store and it was amazing how many things they had in there just for babies. She looked over at Noah, biting her lip. “This might be harder than I originally thought.” She instantly went over to the furniture section, figuring it was the best place to begin.
